THE BLACK QUEEN OF DIAMONDS: A saga where diamonds and a black slave intertwine in an extraordinary dance of fate. (The Goddesses of the World) Kindle Edition
In a society rigidly defined by race and class, Chica was an enigma, a sensual black woman who commanded the attention and desire of Brazil’s powerful white men. Against all odds, she ascended from the shackles of slavery to become a living legend, a queen in all but name during Eighteenth-Century Colonial Brazil. Her children? They walked the halls of Brazil’s and Europe’s most prestigious schools, a living testament to her audacity.
Chica da Silva left behind a legacy that is as contentious as it is awe-inspiring. She’s been celebrated in poems, films, and songs, but her story also confronts Brazil’s deeply ingrained racial taboos head-on. Uncover the life of the Black Queen of Diamonds—a woman who turned societal norms into steppingstones on her path to immortality.

About the author

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I am an author specializing in Historical Fiction, and my family background traces back to the Land of the Rising Sun. My mother used to share with us many stories of her samurai ancestors. For the past two decades, I have resided in the United Kingdom, leveraging my background in Economics to work in finance and IT. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to live in diverse countries, such as: the UK, Switzerland, Japan, and Brazil. This multicultural experience has enriched my understanding of various customs and cultures, shaping me into a more well-rounded individual. I firmly believe that ignorance is the root cause of prejudice, and I hold great reverence for tradition as it embodies a people's history and heritage. Each nation boasts a captivating past, and every culture carries a distinctive legacy deserving of respect.
History has always captivated me, as evidenced by my overflowing bookshelves, kindle, and audible folders filled with historical books and fiction novels. I simply cannot get enough of them. Additionally, I am an avid traveler, often selecting my destinations based on the fascinating historical books I have devoured.
Writing has been a lifelong passion of mine, beginning in childhood and persisting into adulthood. After numerous attempts and refining my narratives, I finally felt confident enough to share my work with others, leading me to publish my writings. Reading and writing have always served as a solace during challenging times, and while some may view it as escapism, I firmly believe that reading or writing can never become a detrimental addiction.
"The Goddesses of Japan" is a book I wrote in honor of my late father, Youzi. When I was just seven years old, he would regale me with tales of Creation and Ancient Japan at bedtime, sparking my fascination with these stories. I made it my mission to one day bring these narratives to a wider audience through my writing.
I sincerely hope that my readers derive as much pleasure from reading my books as I derive from writing them. Every month, I send out a newsletter to my readers, which serves as a blog of sorts. Each newsletter features a brief article on an intriguing topic, book recommendations, and links to websites where you can download free ebooks or purchase them at discounted prices.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2023I love the cover image and cheerful nature of this historical romance. Our heroine started life as a slave and ended as a wealthy and much-loved lady. She was lucky enough to find love with a judge and administrator who could set his own rules. The main characters were real figures and a note at the back for each tells us more. We also get photos and maps of the area in Brazil where diamonds were mined and administered, and Lisbon to which the riches were brought.
This romance is a splendid way to inform the reader, and draw conversation on the nature of slavery and racist exclusion by state, church and society, right down to the level of individuals. During the course of the story, we learn that massive changes occurred in Europe - the French Revolution, the Lisbon earthquake. Unrest was triggered in Portuguese colonial Brazil by massive tax demands, to rebuild. As Brazil was quite stable, the main problem people faced was disease, but overall they seemed to be healthy, and the population was divided so no popular revolution occurred at this time. I learned a great deal about the period, and especially about the challenges faced by an inter-racial couple.
The story would suit readers from teens to adults.
I read an e-ARC from the author and Story Origin, and reviewed for Fresh Fiction. This is an unbiased review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the story!
I absolutely loved the story from beginning to end! I told many of my Brazilian friends I was going to read this book and they informed me that Chica Da Silva was a legend in their country. The book proved to be everything that a legend deserved. Very well researched; very well written; detailed accounts and detailed descriptions of what life was like in the 18th Century.
